Signed into law by Pa. governor Bob Casey, the College and University Security Act of 1988 served as the basis for the Clery Act. The law governs responsibility to Pennsylvania institutions of higher education to report crime statistics and to provide descriptions of safety and security policies, as well as maintain an open crime log.
